Peel potatoes and cut into 1/2-inch cubes.
Place in a large saucepan or stock pot, and cover with water completely.
Bring to a boil, then simmer, uncovered, until potatoes are fork-tender, 20-30 minutes.Drain. Return potatoes to the saucepan. Add the milk,butter and garlic. Mash with a potato masher. Stir in sea salt and pepper. Serve immediately.
